Diane Ablonczy

Diane Ablonczy, born on May sixth, nineteen forty-nine, is a distinguished former Canadian politician, lawyer, farmer, and teacher. Her political career spanned over two decades, during which she represented various Calgary ridings in the House of Commons from nineteen ninety-three to twenty-fifteen. Initially elected as a member of the Reform Party of Canada, she later aligned with the Canadian Alliance and ultimately the Conservative Party of Canada.

Ablonczy's tenure in Parliament was marked by significant roles, including her appointment as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs (Americas and Consular Affairs) from January fourth, twenty-eleven, to July fifteenth, twenty-thirteen. Prior to this, she served as Minister of State for Seniors starting January nineteenth, twenty-ten, and held various other ministerial positions, including Minister of State for Small Business and Tourism and Secretary of State for Small Business and Tourism.

Her political journey began with her election as the Reform Party MP for Calgary North in nineteen ninety-three. Following a riding redistribution in nineteen ninety-six, she was re-elected as the MP for Calgary—Nose Hill in nineteen ninety-seven and continued to serve in subsequent elections in two thousand, two thousand four, two thousand six, two thousand eight, and two thousand eleven. On July fourth, twenty-thirteen, Ablonczy announced her decision not to seek re-election in the twenty-fifteen federal election.
