In addition to his iconic television role, York delivered a memorable performance as Bertram Cates in the film adaptation of Inherit the Wind in nineteen sixty. His career, however, faced significant challenges due to a serious back injury he sustained while filming They Came to Cordura in nineteen fifty-nine.
