Dieric Bouts

Dieric Bouts, born in the year fourteen hundred and fifteen, was a prominent Early Netherlandish painter and draftsperson. His artistic journey is believed to have begun under the tutelage of the renowned Rogier van der Weyden, whose influence is evident in Bouts' work alongside the techniques of Jan van Eyck.

From the year fourteen fifty-seven, Bouts established himself in Leuven, where he would continue to create until his passing in fourteen seventy-five. His contributions to the art world are significant, and he is often recognized under the name Dirk Bouts in various museums and institutions.

Among his notable achievements, Bouts was one of the pioneering northern painters to effectively utilize a single vanishing point in his compositions. This technique is beautifully illustrated in his celebrated work, The Last Supper, showcasing his innovative approach to perspective and depth.
