Dina Bélanger, born on April 30, 1897, was a remarkable Canadian pianist and a devoted member of the Religieuses de Jésus-Marie. Known in her religious life as Marie of Saint Cecilia of Rome, Bélanger's journey was marked by her profound musical talent and deep spiritual convictions.
Her passion for music blossomed in her late childhood, leading her to not only master the piano but also to share her knowledge by teaching the instrument to others. Despite facing numerous health challenges, particularly tuberculosis, Bélanger's dedication to her spiritual and musical aspirations never wavered.
From 1924 until shortly before her untimely passing on September 4, 1929, Bélanger chronicled her spiritual experiences in an autobiographical account. These writings reveal a series of intimate visions and encounters with Jesus Christ, showcasing her deep faith and commitment to her religious life.
In recognition of her life and contributions, Bélanger's beatification was celebrated on March 20, 1993, marking her enduring legacy as both a musician and a nun.
