Ding Ling

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Ding Ling

Ding Ling, born Jiang Bingzhi on October twelfth, nineteen oh four, emerged as one of the most celebrated Chinese women authors of the twentieth century. Known for her feminist and socialist realist literature, she adopted the pen name Ding Ling, which became synonymous with her impactful contributions to literature and politics.

Active in leftist literary circles associated with the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Ding faced imprisonment by the Chinese Nationalist Party (Kuomintang or KMT) due to her political beliefs. Following her release, she became a prominent figure in the literary community within the CCP's revolutionary base area of Yan'an, where she held significant positions in literature and culture during the early years of the People's Republic of China.

In nineteen fifty-one, Ding was awarded the Soviet Union's Stalin second prize for Literature for her notable work, The Sun Shines Over Sanggan River. However, her political loyalties were scrutinized over time, particularly due to a note she wrote while imprisoned by the KMT and her relationship with Feng Da, who betrayed her. This led to her denouncement and expulsion from the CCP during the Anti-Rightist Campaign in nineteen fifty-eight, resulting in her exile to Manchuria.

It wasn't until nineteen seventy-nine that Ding was rehabilitated, and a resolution by the CCP in nineteen eighty-four confirmed her loyalty to the party during her captivity. Ding Ling passed away in Beijing on March fourth, nineteen eighty-six, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
