Diogo José Teixeira da Silva, known as Diogo Jota, was a talented Portuguese professional footballer born on December 4, 1996. Renowned for his exceptional finishing, blistering pace, and remarkable dribbling skills, Jota made a significant impact on the football scene as a forward and winger.
Jota began his career at Paços de Ferreira before making a move to Atlético Madrid in 2016. His journey included loan spells at Porto and Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he played a pivotal role in securing promotion to the Premier League. In 2018, he joined Wolverhampton permanently for a reported fee of fourteen million euros, making 131 appearances and netting 44 goals during his time there.
In 2020, Jota transferred to Liverpool for a fee of forty-one million pounds, where he continued to shine, contributing to the team's success with 182 appearances and 65 goals over five seasons. His accolades with Liverpool included winning the Premier League in 2025, along with an FA Cup and two EFL Cup titles.
On the international stage, Jota represented Portugal at various youth levels and made his senior debut in November 2019. He was part of the squads for two UEFA European Championships and played a crucial role in winning the UEFA Nations League in 2019 and 2025. Tragically, Jota's life was cut short when he and his brother André Silva were killed in a car accident in July 2025.
