DJ Premier

Christopher Edward Martin, widely recognized as DJ Premier, was born on March 21, 1966. An iconic figure in the music industry, he has made a significant impact as a record producer, disc jockey, and rapper. Premier is celebrated for his innovative production style and has been frequently hailed as one of hip hop's greatest producers by esteemed publications such as Vibe.

In collaboration with the late rapper Guru, DJ Premier formed the legendary hip hop duo Gang Starr, which released seven influential albums. In 2014, he joined forces with rapper Royce da 5'9" to create another dynamic duo, PRhyme, which has since produced two albums. His work with Gang Starr and PRhyme showcases his versatility and enduring relevance in the hip hop genre.

Throughout his career, Premier has produced tracks for a diverse array of artists, including AZ, Common, Drake, Eminem, and Nas, among many others. His production credits extend to Billboard Hot 100-charting singles, such as "Ain't No Other Man" by Christina Aguilera and "Mass Appeal" by Gang Starr, demonstrating his ability to bridge the gap between underground and mainstream hip hop.

In addition to his production work, DJ Premier founded Year Round Records in 2010, where he has signed various acts, including NYGz and Nick Javas. His commitment to nurturing new talent is evident in his work with the label, further solidifying his legacy in the music industry.
