Antoine Carraby, widely recognized by his stage name DJ Yella, was born on December 11, 1961, in Compton, California. He is an influential figure in the music industry, known for his multifaceted career as a disc jockey, record producer, rapper, and film director. DJ Yella first gained prominence as a member of the World Class Wreckin' Cru, collaborating closely with the legendary Dr. Dre.
His journey took a significant turn when he joined the groundbreaking gangsta rap group N.W.A, which included notable artists such as Ice Cube, Arabian Prince, and Eazy-E. Although he was the least vocal member, DJ Yella's contributions were vital to the group's enduring legacy. In 1996, he released his debut and only studio album, One Mo Nigga ta Go, through Street Life Records, a tribute to his late friend Eazy-E.
After his foray into music, DJ Yella transitioned to directing pornographic films, a career he pursued until 2011. That year marked a return to music as he began working on a new album titled West Coastin. However, as of 2025, this anticipated project remains unreleased, leaving fans eager for its debut.
