He has played a significant role in the Ukrainian Volunteer Army, where he serves as the main commander, showcasing his commitment to the defense of Ukraine.
From two thousand thirteen to two thousand fifteen, Yarosh led the Right Sector nationalist organization, which was pivotal during the Euromaidan protests. He also commanded the Right Sector's Ukrainian Volunteer Corps before stepping away from the organization in late two thousand fifteen. His political career continued as he served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine from two thousand fourteen until two thousand nineteen, representing the interests of his constituents in the Verkhovna Rada.
In the two thousand fourteen presidential election, Yarosh garnered one hundred twenty-seven thousand seven hundred seventy-two votes, accounting for zero point seven percent of the total. He achieved a notable victory in the parliamentary elections of the same year, winning twenty-nine point seventy-six percent of the votes in his constituency in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. However, he lost his seat in the subsequent two thousand nineteen elections.
In February two thousand sixteen, he founded a new organization called the Governmental Initiative of Yarosh, abbreviated as DIYA, aiming to further his political agenda. His activism has not been without controversy; on July twenty-fifth, two thousand fifteen, Interpol placed him on its international wanted list at the request of Russian authorities, although this request was removed from their website on January second, two thousand sixteen.
