Jaylah Ji'mya Hickmon, known professionally as Doechii, is an American rapper and singer born on August 14, 1998. She gained significant attention in 2021 when her songs went viral on TikTok, leading to her signing recording contracts with Top Dawg Entertainment and Capitol Records in 2022. Her breakout single, "What It Is (Block Boy)" featuring Kodak Black, marked her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieved platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America.

In 2023, Doechii made her acting debut in the drama film Earth Mama, showcasing her versatility beyond music. The following year, she released her second mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, which received critical acclaim and peaked within the top ten of the Billboard 200. This project won Best Rap Album at the sixty-seventh Annual Grammy Awards, making her the third woman to achieve this honor.

Alligator Bites Never Heal produced several successful singles, including "Nissan Altima," "Boom Bap," and "Denial Is a River."
