Domagoj Duvnjak, born on June 1, 1988, is a celebrated Croatian professional handball player currently representing THW Kiel, where he also serves as captain. Renowned as one of the greatest handball players in history, Duvnjak's illustrious career is highlighted by being named the IHF World Player of the Year in 2013 and accumulating over twenty prestigious titles across clubs in Croatia and Germany.

His journey in handball began in 2004 with local club RK Đakovo, and just two years later, he made a significant move to RK Zagreb. In August 2009, Duvnjak signed a groundbreaking three-year contract with German team HSV Hamburg, valued at two million two hundred fifty thousand euros, which included a transfer fee of one million one hundred thousand euros, making him the most expensive handball player at that time.

Since 2014, Duvnjak has been a pivotal player for THW Kiel, leading the team with his exceptional skills and experience. On the international stage, he made his debut for the Croatia national team in 2006 and has since participated in four Summer Olympics, securing a bronze medal in 2012. His contributions to the national team are further underscored by three World Championship medals and five European Championship medals.

From 2017 until his retirement from international play in 2025, Duvnjak captained the Croatian national team, leaving an indelible mark with a record of 257 caps and 771 goals, solidifying his legacy as one of the sport's all-time greats.
