Domenico Starnone, born on February fifteenth, nineteen forty-three, is a distinguished Italian writer, screenwriter, and journalist. His literary contributions have transcended borders, with translations available in English, German, and several other languages. Notable works include 'Prima esecuzione' (2007), translated as 'First Execution' in 2009, and 'Confidenza' (2019), known in English as 'Trust'.

Starnone's acclaimed novel 'Via Gemito' garnered Italy's prestigious Strega Prize and the Naples Prize for Literature in two thousand one, also earning a finalist spot for the Campiello Prize that same year. This poignant narrative revolves around a Neapolitan train conductor named Federí, who grapples with profound frustration, often directing his discontent towards his wife and eldest son, who serves as the story's narrator.
