Dominic Raab, born on February twenty-fifth, nineteen seventy-four, is a prominent British politician and lawyer. He has held several significant positions, including Deputy Prime Minister, Justice Secretary, and Lord Chancellor, serving from September twenty twenty-one to September twenty twenty-two and again from October twenty twenty-two to April twenty twenty-three. A member of the Conservative Party, Raab represented the Esher and Walton constituency as a Member of Parliament from two thousand ten until two thousand twenty-four.
Raab's educational journey began at Dr Challoner's Grammar School in Buckinghamshire, followed by studying law at Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford. He furthered his education with a master's degree at Jesus College, Cambridge. His professional career commenced as a solicitor at Linklaters, after which he worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and served as a political aide.
Raab's political career took off when he was elected as the MP for Esher and Walton in the two thousand ten general election. He contributed to various publications, including 'After the Coalition' in two thousand eleven and 'Britannia Unchained' in two thousand twelve. He served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice from two thousand fifteen to two thousand sixteen and later held the position of Minister of State for Courts and Justice in Theresa May's government.
In two thousand eighteen, Raab was appointed Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, a role he held until his resignation over disagreements regarding the Brexit withdrawal agreement. Following May's resignation, he sought to lead the Conservative Party but was eliminated early in the leadership contest. Under Boris Johnson, he was appointed First Secretary of State and Foreign Secretary, later becoming Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs.
Raab's tenure saw him return to the roles of Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary in Rishi Sunak's administration, but he resigned in April twenty twenty-three after an investigation upheld bullying complaints against him. He did not seek re-election in the two thousand twenty-four general election and was appointed as a senior consultant at PLB, a marketing agency, in December twenty twenty-four.
