Dominic Seiterle

Dominic A. Seiterle, born on September 4, 1975, in Montreal, Quebec, is a distinguished Canadian rower celebrated for his remarkable achievements in the sport. He made history as a gold medallist at the 2008 Summer Olympics, where he competed in the men's eights alongside notable teammates including Andrew Byrnes and Malcolm Howard. His rowing prowess was further demonstrated at the World Rowing Championships, where he also secured gold as a member of the 8+ crew.

Before his Olympic success, Dominic showcased his talent at the 2006 Canadian National Rowing Championships, clinching gold in the single scull event. He also represented Canada at the 2000 Summer Olympics, finishing thirteenth in the double sculls. His impressive track record includes three gold medals at the 2007 World Rowing Cup regattas and a prestigious victory at the 2007 Henley Royal Regatta.

Dominic's journey in rowing began at St. Andrew's School in Middletown, Delaware, where he honed his skills. He graduated from Dartmouth College in 1998 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Environmental Studies. His resilience shone through when he overcame a thyroid cancer diagnosis in the summer of 1997, returning to captain the heavyweight crew in his senior year.

In addition to his athletic accomplishments, Dominic pursued further education, earning an MBA in Competitive Business Strategy and Marketing from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Rochester in 2005. During his time in New York, he undertook a remarkable challenge by rowing across Lake Ontario, a journey of one hundred thirty kilometers from Rochester to Kingston, to raise funds for cancer research and support for children diagnosed with cancer.
