Domitilla the Elder

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Domitilla the Elder

Flavia Domitilla Major, known as Domitilla the Elder, was a prominent figure in Roman history, born in the year fifty. She was the wife of Vespasian, who would later ascend to the throne as Emperor of Rome. Their union was significant, as it produced two sons who would also become emperors: Titus and Domitian.

Domitilla's life was marked by her role as a matriarch in a powerful family during a transformative period in Roman politics. Although she passed away before Vespasian's rise to power in sixty-nine AD, her legacy continued through her children, who played crucial roles in the empire's history.

Following her death, Domitilla was honored posthumously and is believed to have been deified, receiving the title Diva Domitilla. This recognition reflects her importance and the esteem in which she was held, both during her life and after her passing.
