Don Maynard

Don Maynard, born on January 25, 1935, was a celebrated American professional football player renowned for his exceptional skills as a wide receiver. He made a significant impact in both the American Football League (AFL) and the National Football League (NFL), most notably with the New York Jets, where he became a key player in their historic Super Bowl III victory.

Throughout his illustrious career, Maynard also showcased his talents with the New York Giants, the St. Louis Cardinals, and the Shreveport Steamer of the World Football League (WFL). His remarkable performance on the field earned him the honor of being a four-time AFL All-Star, and he was recognized as one of the most productive receivers of his era.

Nicknamed "Country," Maynard was known for his quickness and reliable hands, setting impressive career records for total receiving yards and yards per reception. In recognition of his contributions to the Jets, the franchise retired his iconic number thirteen jersey.
