Donald R. McMonagle

Donald R. McMonagle, born on May 14, 1952, is a distinguished military officer and former astronaut with a remarkable career in aviation and space exploration. As a veteran of three shuttle flights, he has made significant contributions to NASA's space missions, showcasing his expertise as an aircraft pilot and leader in the field.

On August 15, 1997, McMonagle took on the pivotal role of Manager, Launch Integration, at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. In this capacity, he was entrusted with the critical responsibilities of final shuttle preparation, overseeing launch execution, and ensuring the safe return of the orbiter to KSC after landings at various locations.

His leadership extended to chairing the Mission Management Team, where he served as the final authority for launch decisions. McMonagle's extensive experience and dedication to the space program have left an indelible mark on the history of human spaceflight.
