Doris Matsui

Doris Matsui, born on September twenty-fifth, nineteen forty-four, is a prominent American politician and advocate who has made significant contributions to her community and the nation. Since two thousand five, she has represented California's seventh congressional district in the United States House of Representatives, succeeding her late husband, Bob Matsui. Her district, which was numbered as the fifth from two thousand five to two thousand thirteen and the sixth from two thousand thirteen to two thousand twenty-three, is primarily based in Sacramento.

Throughout her tenure in Congress, Matsui has been a staunch advocate for healthcare reform, environmental protection, and technological innovation. She plays a vital role on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, where she serves as the ranking member of the Communications and Technology Subcommittee, influencing policies that shape the future of these critical areas.

Before her congressional career, Matsui was a government affairs consultant and held the position of Deputy Assistant to the President during the Clinton Administration. In this role, she collaborated with President Clinton to establish the first White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in nineteen ninety-nine, highlighting her commitment to diversity and inclusion.
