Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Dorothy L. Sayers

Dorothy L. Sayers, born on June 13, 1893, in Oxford, was a multifaceted English writer whose talents spanned across various genres including crime novels, plays, and essays. Raised in the picturesque rural landscape of East Anglia, she received her education at Godolphin School in Salisbury and later at Somerville College, Oxford, where she graduated with first class honours in medieval French.

Her career began in the advertising world, where she worked as a copywriter from 1922 to 1929. However, it was her literary prowess that ultimately granted her financial independence. Sayers made her mark in the literary world with the publication of her first novel, Whose Body?, in 1923. This marked the beginning of a prolific period during which she penned ten additional novels featuring the charming amateur sleuth, Lord Peter Wimsey, up until 1939.

In 1930, Sayers introduced a significant character, Harriet Vane, in her novel Strong Poison. Harriet became the object of Wimsey's affections, appearing in subsequent novels and adding depth to the narrative as she navigated her relationship with him, resisting his marriage proposals until Gaudy Night in 1935.
