Doug Clifford

Doug Clifford, born on April twenty-four, nineteen forty-five, is an iconic American drummer and bass guitarist, renowned for his role as a founding member of the legendary band Creedence Clearwater Revival. His contributions to the music world were recognized when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in nineteen ninety-three, a testament to his influence and talent.

After Creedence Clearwater Revival disbanded in late nineteen seventy-two, Clifford embarked on a solo career, releasing a solo album that showcased his musical versatility. He later teamed up with fellow CCR bassist Stu Cook to form the Don Harrison Band, further expanding his musical repertoire.

In nineteen ninety-five, Clifford and Cook revived the spirit of their earlier days by forming Creedence Clearwater Revisited, a band dedicated to performing live renditions of the classic songs that made them famous. This venture allowed fans to relive the magic of Creedence Clearwater Revival's music.

An early inspiration for Clifford's drumming style came from The Beatles, particularly their groundbreaking performance on The Ed Sullivan Show in February nineteen sixty-four. This pivotal moment ignited a passion in him and his peers, leading them to believe that they too could create rock 'n' roll magic. They even donned Beatle wigs, a playful nod to their musical idols.

Growing up in El Cerrito, California, Clifford shared a close bond with the Fogerty brothers and Stu Cook, all of whom would go on to shape the sound of rock music. Their shared experiences and musical aspirations were further nurtured during their time at San Jose State University, where Clifford and Cook honed their craft together.
