Doug Ducey

Doug Ducey, born on April ninth, nineteen sixty-four, is a prominent American businessman and Republican politician. He served as the twenty-third governor of Arizona from two thousand fifteen to two thousand twenty-three, following his tenure as Arizona State Treasurer from two thousand eleven to two thousand fifteen. Before entering politics, Ducey was the chief executive officer of Cold Stone Creamery, an ice cream parlor chain, from nineteen ninety-five until two thousand seven.

Originally hailing from Ohio, Ducey relocated to Arizona to pursue his education at Arizona State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance. His career began in sales and marketing, leading him to take the helm at Cold Stone Creamery. After selling the company in two thousand seven, he transitioned into public service, winning the election for Arizona State Treasurer in two thousand ten.

In two thousand fourteen, Ducey secured the Republican nomination for governor and subsequently defeated Democratic businessman Fred DuVal in the general election, officially taking office on January fifth, two thousand fifteen. He was re-elected in two thousand eighteen, triumphing over Democratic nominee David Garcia by a significant margin.

During his governorship, Ducey was recognized by his fellow Republican governors, who elected him chair of the Republican Governors Association for two thousand twenty-one and co-chair in two thousand twenty-two. Although he was considered a potential candidate for the U.S. Senate, he ultimately chose not to run against incumbent Kyrsten Sinema in the two thousand twenty-four election. Ducey concluded his term on January second, two thousand twenty-three, and was succeeded by Democrat Katie Hobbs. In June two thousand twenty-three, he was appointed as CEO of Citizens for Free Enterprise, a political action committee dedicated to promoting economic freedom.
