Doug Paisley

Douglas K. S. Paisley, a talented Canadian alternative country singer and songwriter, hails from Toronto. Known for his evocative songwriting and engaging performances, he has made a significant mark in the music industry, initially with No Quarter Records and currently with Outside Music.

Paisley's journey in music includes notable collaborations, such as touring with Bonnie Prince Billy under the moniker Dark Hand and Lamplight alongside artist Shary Boyle. Their unique partnership, where Boyle illuminated her art while Paisley performed, garnered attention, culminating in a showcase at the prestigious Brooklyn Academy of Music in two thousand eight.

His debut solo album, simply titled Doug Paisley, was released in two thousand eight, followed by the critically acclaimed Constant Companion in two thousand ten, which received praise from major publications like The New Yorker and Spin. His subsequent works, including the albums Strong Feelings in two thousand fourteen and Starter Home in two thousand eighteen, continued to showcase his songwriting prowess, with the latter being lauded by The New Yorker for its enriching content.

In November two thousand twenty-two, Paisley announced his upcoming album, Say What You Like, which was released on March seventeenth, two thousand twenty-three, to positive reviews from Pitchfork and other outlets. He further expanded his discography with the self-released country covers album Sad Old World on January nineteenth, two thousand twenty-four, and is set to follow with Rough Master, featuring original songs, on May second, two thousand twenty-five.
