Douglas Hurd

Douglas Hurd, born on March eighth, nineteen thirty, is a distinguished British Conservative Party politician and author. His political career spanned from nineteen seventy-nine to nineteen ninety-five, during which he served under the leadership of both Margaret Thatcher and John Major. Hurd's journey in politics began as a career diplomat and political secretary to Prime Minister Edward Heath, leading to his election as Member of Parliament for Mid Oxfordshire in February nineteen seventy-four, later representing Witney from nineteen eighty-three.

Hurd's initial government role was as the inaugural Minister for Europe from nineteen seventy-nine to nineteen eighty-three.
