Dr. John, born Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. on November 20, 1941, was a multifaceted American musician whose artistry spanned several genres, including New Orleans blues, jazz, R&B, soul, and funk. His breakthrough came with the release of his iconic album Gris-Gris in 1968, which showcased his innovative blend of musical influences.
