Drahomíra, born in the year eight hundred ninety, was a prominent figure in Bohemian history, serving as the Duchess consort from nine hundred fifteen to nine hundred twenty-one. She was married to Vratislaus I, a member of the influential Přemyslid dynasty, which played a crucial role in the formation of the Czech state.
During her husband's reign, Drahomíra not only fulfilled her duties as a consort but also took on the significant role of regent for the Duchy of Bohemia from nine hundred twenty-one to nine hundred twenty-four. This period was marked by the minority of her son, Wenceslaus, who would later become a revered saint and king.
However, Drahomíra's legacy is overshadowed by the controversial act of orchestrating the murder of her mother-in-law, Ludmila of Bohemia. This act, carried out by hired assassins, has led to a complex and often debated portrayal of her character in historical narratives.
