Drew Karpyshyn

Drew Karpyshyn, born on July 28, 1971, is a distinguished Canadian writer known for his contributions to the realms of science fiction and video game storytelling. With a career that spans several notable projects, he has made a significant impact in the gaming industry, particularly through his work with BioWare.

Karpyshyn served as a senior writer for the critically acclaimed Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, where his narrative skills helped shape an unforgettable gaming experience. He further solidified his reputation as a lead writer for the first two Mass Effect video games, which are celebrated for their rich storytelling and character development.

In 2012, Drew decided to leave BioWare to concentrate on his own literary endeavors, specifically his Chaos Born novels. However, his passion for game writing drew him back to BioWare in 2015. After a successful return, he announced on March 9, 2018, that he would once again depart from the company to focus on his independent projects.
