Duff McKagan, born on February fifth, nineteen sixty-four, is a prominent American musician best known as the bassist for the iconic hard rock band Guns N' Roses. His tenure with the band spanned twelve years, during which they achieved monumental success in the late eighties and early nineties. After a long hiatus, McKagan rejoined the band in two thousand sixteen, coinciding with their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
During the latter part of his first stint with Guns N' Roses, McKagan ventured into solo work, releasing the album Believe in Me in nineteen ninety-three. He also formed the short-lived supergroup Neurotic Outsiders. Following his departure from Guns N' Roses in nineteen ninety-seven, he briefly reunited with his earlier Seattle punk band, 10 Minute Warning, before establishing the hard rock band Loaded, where he took on lead vocals and rhythm guitar.
From two thousand two to two thousand eight, McKagan played bass in the supergroup Velvet Revolver alongside former Guns N' Roses bandmates Slash and Matt Sorum. His musical journey also included collaborations with notable bands such as Alice in Chains in two thousand six, Jane's Addiction in two thousand ten, and the supergroup Hollywood Vampires in two thousand sixteen. Additionally, he has worked on various projects with fellow Seattle musicians Mike McCready and Barrett Martin, including Walking Papers and Levee Walkers.
