Duma Boko

Duma Boko, born on December thirty-first, nineteen sixty-nine, is a prominent Motswana politician and lawyer. He has made significant strides in Botswana's political landscape, currently serving as the sixth President of Botswana since November first, twenty twenty-four. His leadership journey began as the leader of the Umbrella for Democratic Change in two thousand twelve, a coalition of the main opposition parties in the country.

Before ascending to the presidency, Boko held the position of Leader of the Opposition from two thousand fourteen to two thousand nineteen. His political career took a pivotal turn when he became the president of the Botswana National Front in two thousand ten, a role that set the stage for his future endeavors in uniting opposition forces.

Throughout his political career, Boko has been a staunch advocate for social democracy, leading the Umbrella for Democratic Change in the general elections of two thousand fourteen and two thousand nineteen. His efforts culminated in a historic victory in the twenty twenty-four elections, making him the first president in Botswana's history not affiliated with the Botswana Democratic Party.
