Durgabai Deshmukh

Durgabai Deshmukh, born on July fifteenth, nineteen oh nine, was a prominent Indian freedom fighter, lawyer, and social worker. Her contributions to the nation extended beyond her legal career, as she played a significant role in shaping India's political landscape. As a member of the Constituent Assembly of India and the Planning Commission, she was instrumental in the formulation of policies that aimed to uplift the nation.

A passionate advocate for women's rights, Durgabai founded the Andhra Mahila Sabha in nineteen thirty-seven, which became a pivotal organization in the fight for women's emancipation in India. Her commitment to social welfare was further exemplified when she took on the role of founder chairperson of the Central Social Welfare Board, where she worked tirelessly to improve the lives of women and children across the country.

In nineteen fifty-three, Durgabai married C.D. Deshmukh, who was the first Indian governor of the Reserve Bank of India and served as Finance Minister in India's Central Cabinet from nineteen fifty to nineteen fifty-six. Together, they contributed to the socio-economic development of India during a transformative period in the nation's history.
