E. C. Segar

Elzie Crisler Segar, widely recognized by his pen name E. C. Segar, was born on December 8, 1894. He emerged as a prominent American cartoonist, screenwriter, and writer, leaving an indelible mark on the world of comics.

Segar is best known for creating the beloved character Popeye in 1929, who made his debut in the comic strip Thimble Theatre. This iconic character not only entertained readers but also became a cultural phenomenon, showcasing Segar's unique blend of humor and artistry.
