E. Howard Hunt

Everette Howard Hunt Jr., born on October 9, 1918, was a multifaceted American intelligence officer and author whose life was marked by significant historical events. His career with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) spanned from 1949 to 1970, during which he played a pivotal role in U.S. interventions in Latin America, notably the 1954 Guatemalan coup d'état and the infamous Bay of Pigs Invasion in Cuba in 1961.

Hunt's involvement in covert operations extended beyond foreign affairs; he was also a key member of the Nixon administration's White House Plumbers. This group was tasked with identifying and stopping leaks of sensitive information to the press. Alongside G. Gordon Liddy and Frank Sturgis, Hunt orchestrated the Watergate burglaries, which ultimately led to a scandal that would shake the foundations of American politics.

In the aftermath of the Watergate scandal, Hunt faced legal repercussions, being convicted of burglary, conspiracy, and wiretapping. He was sentenced to thirty-three months in prison. Following his release, he relocated to Mexico and later settled in Miami, where he lived until his passing on January 23, 2007.

Throughout his life, Hunt was also the subject of numerous conspiracy theories, particularly concerning the assassination of John F. Kennedy. His sons even recorded a controversial deathbed confession that fueled speculation about his involvement in the event.
