Éamonn Ceannt

Éamonn Ceannt, originally named Edward Thomas Kent, was born on 21 September 1881. He emerged as a prominent figure in the Irish republican movement, driven by a deep commitment to the cause of Irish independence.

Ceannt is most notably recognized for his pivotal role in the Easter Rising of 1916, a significant event in Irish history that sought to end British rule in Ireland. His leadership and dedication during this tumultuous period showcased his unwavering resolve and passion for the republican ideals.
