Earl Reibel

Earl Reibel, born on July 21, 1930, was a distinguished Canadian ice hockey player who made a significant impact in the National Hockey League. Primarily playing as a centre, he showcased his talents with the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks, and Boston Bruins over the course of his career.

Reibel's tenure in the NHL spanned seven seasons, during which he achieved remarkable success, including winning two Stanley Cups with the Red Wings in 1954 and 1955. Notably, he became the only player to surpass the legendary Gordie Howe as the Red Wings' leading scorer between 1950 and 1964, achieving this feat by a margin of four points in the 1954-55 season.

His prowess on the ice was further highlighted during the ninth All-Star Game on October 2, 1955, where he scored two goals, including a crucial last-minute empty net goal that secured a 3-1 victory for Detroit. In regular season play, Reibel accumulated eighty-four goals and one hundred sixty-one assists, totaling two hundred forty-five points across four hundred nine games. His playoff performance included six goals and fourteen assists for twenty points in thirty-nine appearances.

Reibel's NHL career concluded in 1959 after a season with the Boston Bruins, leading him to continue his hockey journey in the American Hockey League with the Providence Bruins. He retired from professional hockey in 1961 and returned to his roots in Kitchener, Ontario, where he transitioned to a career with Brewers Retail. Earl Reibel passed away on January 3, 2007, in Kitchener, due to complications following a stroke.
