Ebele Okoye

Ebele Okoye, also known as Omenka Ulonka, is a distinguished Berlin-based Nigerian/German independent animation producer, director, designer, and multi-media artist. Born on October 6, 1969, in Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, she has carved a unique niche in the world of animation.

As Nigeria's first female animator, Ebele is celebrated as one of the pioneers of African animation, earning her the title of the 'mother of African Animation.' With over sixteen years of experience in the animation industry, her contributions have significantly shaped the field, making her an influential figure in both animation and poetry film communities.

Since relocating to Germany in the year two thousand, Ebele has continued to innovate and inspire, bridging cultural gaps through her artistic endeavors. Her work not only showcases her talent but also highlights the rich storytelling traditions of Africa.
