Ed O'Brien

Ed O'Brien, born on April fifteenth, nineteen sixty-eight, is an acclaimed English guitarist, songwriter, and musician, best known as a member of the iconic rock band Radiohead. His musical journey began at Abingdon School in Oxfordshire, where he and his schoolmates formed the band that would go on to redefine alternative rock. O'Brien has often described his role in the band as one of support, focusing on 'servicing the songs' and enhancing the work of lead songwriter Thom Yorke.

Throughout his career, O'Brien has been recognized for his innovative approach to guitar playing, utilizing effects, sustain units, and the EBow to create ambient sounds and textures. In addition to his guitar work, he contributes backing vocals, adding depth to Radiohead's complex soundscapes. His contributions have not gone unnoticed, as Rolling Stone named him among the greatest guitarists of all time in both twenty ten and twenty twenty-three.

In the two thousands, O'Brien expanded his musical horizons by collaborating with fellow musicians, including Radiohead's drummer Philip Selway, on the 7 Worlds Collide project. In twenty twenty, he ventured into solo work, releasing his debut album, Earth, under the moniker EOB. This album drew inspiration from his experiences in Brazil, particularly his time at Carnival. Unfortunately, his subsequent solo tour was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Looking ahead, O'Brien is set to release his second album, Blue Morpho, in May twenty twenty-six. Beyond his musical endeavors, he is also an advocate for important issues such as climate change and artist rights. His contributions to music and society were further recognized when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Radiohead in two thousand nineteen.
