Eddie Guerrero

Eddie Guerrero, born on October ninth, nineteen sixty-seven, was a legendary American professional wrestler renowned for his dynamic presence in the ring. He gained fame through his remarkable tenures in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), now known as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Guerrero was a prominent figure in the wrestling world, hailing from the esteemed Guerrero wrestling family, which included his father, Gory Guerrero, and his brothers, Chavo Guerrero Sr., Mando Guerrero, and Héctor Guerrero. He was also the father of Shaul Guerrero, continuing the family legacy.

Guerrero's wrestling persona, famously known as 'Latino Heat,' showcased his crafty and resourceful nature, often bending the rules to secure victories. His iconic catchphrase, 'I Lie! I Cheat! I Steal!' resonated with fans and was featured in one of his entrance themes. This phrase also inspired the title of his autobiography, 'Cheating Death, Stealing Life.' Despite often portraying a heel character, Guerrero's charisma and talent made him a beloved figure, especially during his peak years from two thousand three to two thousand five, when he became the top wrestler on the SmackDown brand.

Beginning his career in the vibrant Mexican wrestling scene, Guerrero formed a successful tag team with Art Barr. Following Barr's untimely death, Guerrero made his mark in the United States by joining ECW in nineteen ninety-five, where he won the ECW World Television Championship twice. His journey continued in WCW, where he captured both the WCW United States Championship and the WCW Cruiserweight Championship, while also leading the Latino World Order. However, after feeling underutilized, he departed WCW in two thousand.

Transitioning to WWF during the Attitude Era, Guerrero joined forces with fellow wrestlers Chris Benoit, Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn to form The Radicalz. He achieved significant success, winning the WWF European Championship and the WWF Intercontinental Championship. Despite facing challenges with substance abuse, including alcoholism and painkiller addiction, Guerrero was rehired in two thousand two. He then formed the tag team Los Guerreros with his nephew Chavo, capturing the WWE Tag Team Championship and solidifying his status on the SmackDown brand.

Guerrero's career reached new heights when he won the WWE Championship at No Way Out in two thousand four, marking his sole world title reign. Although he lost the championship later that year, he remained a prominent figure in the wrestling world until his tragic passing on November thirteenth, two thousand five. His legacy endures, as he was posthumously inducted into several prestigious halls of fame, including the WWE Hall of Fame, AAA Hall of Fame, Wrestling Observer Newsletter Hall of Fame, and Hardcore Hall of Fame.
