Eddie Tolan

Thomas Edward Tolan, born on September 29, 1908, was an iconic American sprinter known for his remarkable speed and athletic prowess. Nicknamed the 'Midnight Express', Tolan made history as a track and field athlete who excelled in sprints, setting world records in both the 100-yard dash and the 100 meters. His extraordinary talent was showcased at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, where he became the first non-Euro-American to earn the title of the 'world's fastest human' by clinching gold medals in the 100 and 200 meters events.

In addition to his Olympic success, Tolan's career was marked by a series of impressive achievements. In March 1935, he triumphed at the World Professional Sprint Championships in Melbourne, winning the 75, 100, and 220-yard events. This victory made him the first athlete to win both amateur and professional world sprint championships, further solidifying his legacy in the world of athletics.
