Eddy Planckaert

Personal Facts, Age, Height and Biography of Eddy Planckaert

Eddy Planckaert, born on September twenty-second, nineteen fifty-eight, is a distinguished Belgian former professional road racing cyclist. His career reached a pinnacle in nineteen eighty-eight when he secured the green jersey in the points competition at the Tour de France and triumphed in the prestigious Tour of Flanders.

In nineteen ninety, Planckaert achieved another monumental victory by winning Paris–Roubaix, a race noted for its dramatic finish, where he edged out Canadian cyclist Steve Bauer by less than a centimeter. Renowned for his sprinting prowess, he is celebrated as one of the few cyclists to have claimed stage wins across all three Grand Tours.

Beyond his cycling achievements, Eddy comes from a family of cyclists; he is the brother of Willy and Walter Planckaert, the uncle of Jo Planckaert, and the father of Francesco Planckaert. His life took a new turn more than a decade after retiring from professional cycling when he became a familiar face on a long-running reality TV show that showcased his family life on VTM.

In a notable moment after the two thousand sixteen Paris–Roubaix, Planckaert stirred conversation by suggesting that second-placed Tom Boonen should have negotiated with the eventual winner, Mathew Hayman, to secure a victory for himself.
