Éder Jofre

Éder Jofre, born on March 26, 1936, is a celebrated Brazilian professional boxer and politician, renowned for his exceptional achievements in the ring. He made history as both the bantamweight and featherweight world champion, earning a reputation as one of the greatest bantamweight boxers of all time.

His remarkable career has been recognized by various boxing organizations. In 2019, he was honored as the sixteenth greatest boxer of all time by the International Boxing Research Organization, ranking him as the third greatest living boxer, following legends Roberto Durán and Sugar Ray Leonard. Additionally, The Ring magazine named him the nineteenth greatest fighter of the past eighty years in 2002.

Jofre's accolades continued to accumulate throughout his career. In 1996, he was rated as the ninth greatest boxer of the previous fifty years, and he is also ranked eighty-fifth on Ring Magazine's list of the one hundred greatest punchers of all time. His contributions to the sport were immortalized in 1992 when he was inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in Canastota, New York, making him the only Brazilian to receive this prestigious honor.
