Edgar Dey

Edgar Dey, born on May first, eighteen eighty-three, was a notable figure in the world of ice hockey and canoeing. As an early amateur and professional ice hockey player, he made significant contributions to the sport during its formative years. His athletic prowess extended beyond the rink, as he also excelled in canoeing, earning the title of canoeing champion of Canada.

A member of the esteemed Dey family of Ottawa, Edgar was part of a lineage known for their expertise in canoe building, athletics, and the operation of local arenas. His father, Frank Edgar Dey, played a pivotal role in the family business, co-owning the Dey boat-building enterprise and Dey's Arena, which were integral to the community's sporting culture.

Tragically, Edgar's life was cut short in nineteen twelve due to an injury sustained while playing hockey. His legacy, however, lives on through the impact he made in both ice hockey and canoeing, as well as through the Dey family's contributions to sports in Ottawa.
