Edgar Mitchell

Edgar Mitchell, born on September seventeenth, nineteen thirty, was a distinguished United States Navy officer and aviator, renowned for his remarkable contributions as a NASA astronaut. As the Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo 14 in nineteen seventy-one, he made history by spending nine hours on the lunar surface in the Fra Mauro Highlands, becoming the sixth person to walk on the Moon and the second Freemason to do so, following Buzz Aldrin.

Before his illustrious career in space exploration, Mitchell pursued academic excellence, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management from Carnegie Institute of Technology. He joined the United States Navy in nineteen fifty-two, where he was commissioned through the Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, and served as a Naval Aviator.

In nineteen sixty-one, he furthered his education by obtaining a second bachelor's degree in aeronautical engineering from the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School. His academic journey culminated in nineteen sixty-four when he earned a doctorate in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). During this period, he also attended the U.S. Air Force Aerospace Research Pilot School, graduating first in his class and serving as an instructor in advanced mathematics and navigation theory for astronaut candidates.

After his time with NASA, Mitchell dedicated himself to scientific and parapsychological research, leaving a lasting legacy through the Institute of Noetic Sciences, which continues to explore the intersection of science and consciousness.
