Edivaldo Martíns da Fonseca, affectionately known as Edivaldo, was born on April 13, 1962, in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro State. He emerged as a talented forward in Brazilian football, beginning his professional career in 1982. Over the years, Edivaldo showcased his skills with several prominent clubs, including Atlético Mineiro, Palmeiras, São Paulo, and Taquaritinga, as well as international stints with Gamba Osaka in Japan and Puebla in Mexico.
His contributions to the sport extended beyond club football, as he represented the Brazil national team in three matches between April 1986 and July 1989. Notably, he was part of the squad for the 1986 FIFA World Cup, a significant milestone in his career, even though he did not score during his international appearances.
Tragically, Edivaldo's life was cut short when he died in the Castelo Branco highway disaster in São Paulo on January 13, 1993, at the young age of thirty. His legacy as a dedicated footballer continues to be remembered by fans and players alike.
