Edson Braafheid, born on April 8, 1983, is a former professional footballer from the Netherlands who has transitioned into a role as a player representative at the Tevreden Group. His football journey began in 2003 when he joined Eredivisie side Utrecht, where he established himself as a reliable defender.
In 2007, Braafheid made a significant move to FC Twente on a free transfer, further enhancing his reputation in Dutch football. His talent caught the attention of German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, who signed him in 2009 for a fee of two million euros. However, his time at Bayern was challenging, as he struggled to secure a regular spot in the starting lineup.
To gain more playing time and improve his chances of being selected for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Braafheid was loaned to Scottish Premier League club Celtic. After a brief stint in Scotland, he returned to Germany, joining Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga for the 2011–12 season.
Throughout his career, Braafheid represented both the U-21 and senior Netherlands national teams. He was selected for the Netherlands squad for the 2008 Summer Olympics but was unable to participate due to club commitments. He later earned a call-up for the 2010 World Cup, where he made a substitute appearance in the final, marking a significant achievement in his international career.
