Eduard Profittlich

Eduard Profittlich, born on September eleventh, eighteen ninety, was a prominent German Catholic prelate whose life was marked by his unwavering commitment to the Church during tumultuous times. He served as the Apostolic Administrator of Estonia from nineteen thirty-one until his untimely death in a Soviet prison in nineteen forty-two. His dedication to his faith and his community was evident as he took Estonian citizenship in nineteen thirty-five and was elevated to the rank of archbishop in nineteen thirty-six.

A member of the Society of Jesus, Profittlich's role in Estonia was pivotal. His ten years in the country were crucial for the survival of the Catholic Church amidst the oppressive Soviet regime.
