Edward Grange

Flight Lieutenant Edward Rochfort Grange, born on January eleventh, nineteen hundred and ninety-two, emerged as a distinguished flying ace during World War I, credited with five aerial victories. His journey in aviation began when he graduated from the American Curtiss Flying School in September nineteen fifteen, leading him to join the Royal Naval Air Service.

Grange's service in 1 Wing on the French coast marked the beginning of his combat achievements, where he scored his first victory by destroying a seaplane on September twenty-fifth, nineteen sixteen. His prowess in the air soon led him to the 8 Naval Squadron, where he showcased his skills further.

On January fourth, nineteen seventeen, while piloting Sopwith Pup no. N1594, Grange successfully destroyed an Albatros D.II and drove two others down out of control. However, his daring exploits came at a cost; just three days later, he was wounded while sending another D.II down out of control. Following this incident, he returned to England, where he took on the role of an instructor for the remainder of the war.

After the war, Grange transitioned into a successful business career, demonstrating his versatility beyond the cockpit. His passion for aviation remained strong, leading him to serve as a civilian inspector and auditor for the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II, further solidifying his legacy in military aviation.
