Edward Tatum

Edward Tatum, born on December fourteenth, nineteen oh nine, was a pioneering American biochemist and geneticist whose groundbreaking work significantly advanced our understanding of genetics and metabolism.

In nineteen fifty-eight, Tatum was awarded half of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine alongside George Beadle for their collaborative research demonstrating that genes are responsible for controlling individual steps in metabolic processes.
