Edward V

Edward V, born on November second, fourteen seventy, was a brief yet significant figure in English history. He ascended to the throne as King of England on April ninth, fourteen eighty-three, following the death of his father, Edward IV. However, his reign was short-lived, lasting only until June twenty-fifth of the same year.

Despite being the rightful heir, Edward V was never crowned. His reign was overshadowed by the machinations of his uncle, the Duke of Gloucester, who served as Lord Protector. This uncle would later depose Edward, taking the throne for himself as King Richard III. The legitimacy of Edward V and his siblings was further undermined by the Titulus Regius, an act of Parliament that declared them illegitimate, a decision that would not be reversed until the reign of Henry VII.

Edward V and his younger brother, Richard of Shrewsbury, are infamously known as the Princes in the Tower. Their mysterious disappearance from the heavily guarded royal lodgings in the Tower of London has sparked centuries of speculation and intrigue. While Richard III is often blamed for their fate, the lack of definitive evidence leaves room for various interpretations of this tragic chapter in history.
