Ei-ichi Negishi

Ei-ichi Negishi, born on July fourteenth, nineteen thirty-five, is a distinguished Japanese chemist renowned for his groundbreaking work in organic synthesis. His most notable achievement, the discovery of the Negishi coupling, has significantly advanced the field of chemistry, enabling the formation of carbon-carbon bonds in a highly efficient manner.

Throughout his illustrious career, Negishi dedicated a substantial portion of his time to Purdue University in the United States. There, he held the esteemed position of Herbert C. Brown Distinguished Professor and served as the director of the Negishi-Brown Institute, fostering innovation and research in chemical sciences.

In recognition of his exceptional contributions to chemistry, Negishi was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in two thousand ten.
