Beginning her career at the tender age of seventeen, Kapoor quickly gained recognition for producing a plethora of popular television soap operas during the late nineties and early two-thousands. Her landmark achievement came in two thousand with the launch of 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' on StarPlus, which achieved an unprecedented television rating point of twenty-two point four, making it the most successful Indian serial of its time. Following this, she produced other hits like 'Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii' and 'Kasautii Zindagii Kay', solidifying her title as the Queen of Indian television.

In two thousand one, she expanded her empire by launching Balaji Motion Pictures, a subsidiary focused on film production and distribution.
