Rodolfo Guzmán Huerta, born on September twenty-third, nineteen seventeen, is celebrated as El Santo, or "The Saint," a legendary figure in Mexican professional wrestling and cinema. His career, which spanned nearly five decades, established him as a folk hero and a symbol of justice, captivating audiences through his roles in luchador films and comic books that depicted his fictional battles for the common man.

El Santo's wrestling journey began under various ring names and gimmicks, both masked and unmasked, before he adopted the iconic persona of El Santo, El Enmascarado de Plata, in nineteen forty-two. He became a prominent figure in the Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre, where he secured multiple championships, including the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship and the NWA World Welterweight Championship, among others.

His influence extended beyond the ring, as he starred or co-starred in at least fifty-three films from nineteen fifty-eight to nineteen eighty-two. El Santo's legacy is further enriched by his family's involvement in wrestling, with his sons and grandsons continuing the tradition, including El Hijo del Santo and Santo Jr.

El Santo's impact on professional wrestling in Mexico is comparable to that of Rikidōzan in Japan, and his passing on February fifth, nineteen eighty-four, was marked by one of the largest funerals in the country.
